FMC son las siglas de Fully Multi-Coated, es decir, del tratamiento multicapa integral. Este tratamiento es un recubrimiento especial que se aplica a la superficie óptica de una lente para evitar los reflejos. En el caso del tratamiento multicapa se aplican varias películas optimizadas para una longitud de onda dada.
Por "integral" se hace referencia al hecho de que todas las superficies de contacto entre vidrio y aire están tratadas con varias capas de revestimiento, no solamente las superficies orientadas hacia el exterior del tubo.
