Los telescopios designados como apocromáticos con objetivo de doble lente presentan un objetivo que integra dos lentes. Dicha designación no diferencia entre los semiapocromáticos y los apocromáticos de dos lentes.
El segundo elemento suele ser un vidrio ED (de dispersión extra baja). Pese a ello, aún pueden percibirse pequeñas aberraciones cromáticas, ya que este tipo de fallos solo pueden evitarse con diseños totalmente apocromáticos de triple lente.
