Vixen's Polarie star tracker is one of the most popular camera mounts on the market. Camera mounts do not carry telescopes, but take the camera directly and follow the rotation of the night sky. As always with astrophotography, even with such a small mount, exact alignment with the celestial pole is critical. The Polarie has a peephole and provision for attaching an optional polar finder scope. Alignment using the peephole is only sufficient for short exposures. If, on the other hand, you want to use Vixen's optional polar finder, you will have to remove the camera first. However, this changes the weight distribution, which inevitably leads to some movement. It is also not possible to control the orientation during photography. Lacerta's off-axis mount (OAH-1) is an elegant solution! Polar alignment using the polar finder scope can also be carried out with camera still mounted.
